One of Us - Letters from the children

These are just some of the touching testimonials written by children who participated in “One of Us.”

Dear Rachel,
Thank you for teaching us about disabilities, I hope when I see one I could control myself and try to be his friend. I really liked the games that you brought like the one where have to tie a rope around your arm and put the jam on the cracker and the sound one. Now I know how it feels to have disabilities I won’t make fun of anyone when I see them. If I saw a kid who was getting sad cuz people were making funs of him I will help him and be his friend. What I learned about this lesson is that nobody is perfect everybody is special. I have to thank you again for coming and teaching us about disabilities. I hope I see you again.

From Uri

Dear Rachel,
I learned that nobody is perfect everybody is special. I didn’t know that internal disabilities were from your brain. I now know that some famous actors have dyslexia. I learned that you should never make fun of people with disabilities. Now I know that you should never stare at people with disabilities, their life is very hard. Thank you Rachel for teaching us about people with disabilities.

Jonathan

Dear Rachel,
Thank you for coming. We learned a lot of stuff. We learned nobody is perfect everybody is special. We should treat everybody nicely. We learned that internal disabilities are in your head and you can’t see them. We did not know a lot of famous people had dyslexia. We learned that external disabilities people can see. I enjoyed what you taught me. I liked the stuff you brought. My favourite station was the jam and the crackers. I did not know that autism meant disability. We had lots of fun.

Love Tamar
