Camp DBY is a place where children with developmental disabilities thrive. With a one to one ratio of camper to counselor, the staff works hard to ensure that the children experience nothing but fun and laughter – all the while learning the daily living skills so crucial to their growth and development. The children enjoy all the same activities as
their typical peers: swimming, water sports, boating, arts and crafts, drama, baking, music hiking and nature trails, horseback riding, and computers – not to mention special events and evening programs.
Campers are encouraged to try new experiences in order to gain self-confidence, learn cooperation and communication, and increase personal independence in a safe and fun environment. Our focus is on individual growth through accomplishing a variety of goals at levels specific to each individual's needs, capabilities and potential.
The staff says it all…
The counselors work tirelessly to ensure that the children have the best of both worlds; a disciplined routine that fosters consistency and stability in the children’s environment - all in a relaxed and carefree atmosphere.
Our rigorous screening and selection process provides the children with a team of counselors and specialists with a strong background in special education and a passion for providing each camper with an incredible summer camping experience.
An amazing Jewish experience!
The Jewish environment is an integral part of the children’s daily activities. Each child is encouraged to achieve his or her personal best while developing friendships within the camp community.

Structured and unstructured play is a very important component of our program. Playing is a way to develop and prepare for further challenges. While children play they explore and discover how to manipulate materials, learn how to express their imagination and creativity, and work out relations between people while they reenact everyday situations.
In order to promote a successful experience for all, the program also takes into account each child’s own sensory, communication and behavioural support needs.
