What are social skills?

Social skills are the abilities we use to connect with others, understand their feelings, and navigate everyday interactions. They include skills like reading non‑verbal cues, taking turns, listening, communicating clearly, managing emotions, and adapting to new situations. These abilities help children build meaningful relationships, participate in group activities, and feel confident in social settings.
